About the Human Ecology & Hospitality department

The Human Ecology and Hospitality Department is dedicated to equipping students with practical life skills, creativity, and academic excellence through hands‑on learning experiences. The department offers a wide range of programmes, including Family and Consumer Management (Grades 7–9), CSEC Food, Nutrition and Health, Family and Resource Management, Textiles, Clothing and Fashion, Commercial Food Preparation (Grades 10–11), NCTVET Housekeeping Operations, and CAPE Tourism (Grade 12). With a focus on nutrition, hospitality, fashion, tourism, and resource management, the department prepares students for everyday life, further academic pursuits, and diverse career pathways. By fostering resilience, innovation, and confidence, it empowers learners to thrive in both personal and professional contexts while contributing meaningfully to society.

Achievements and highlights

Students in the Human Ecology and Hospitality Department continue to demonstrate strong academic performance, particularly in CSEC Food, Nutrition and Health, Family and Resource Management, and Textiles, Clothing and Fashion, with many achieving satisfactory passes and completing SBAs successfully. They have also shown impressive practical skills through the preparation of quality dishes, garment construction, and housekeeping tasks under NCTVET Housekeeping Operations.
